Employment
Potential and current employers are able to view a modified version of your credit profile. They may do this to assess qualities such as financial responsibility, honesty and integrity. In fields most often associated with government positions, the use of these profiles are more commonly used, as much sensitive information is processed in these lines of work.Typically the credit profiles used exclude information on the types of loans and credit cards you have. They won't have any account numbers or spousal references either. The employment record is used more as a gauge and not as a determining factor in deciding your employment.
For employees, know that there are limits to what employers can do with your employment record. First off, they cannot freely access them. Employers need your written permission before they can get your credit and employment records. Second, the employment record will exclude most sensitive account numbers and references. And third, employers are required to inform the employee in writing of any reservations they have regarding the hiring, after they've seen the report. Lastly, employment records are not shown to lenders or other future employers.
